ALDERMEN'S MUSEUM
A remarkable museum in the former City Hall of Saintes, an heir to the first museum of Fine Arts.
Heir to the first Musée des Beaux-Arts, the Musée de l'Echevinage is housed in Saintes' former Hôtel de Ville. Located in the heart of the town, just a stone's throw from the Médiathèque, it offers a warm welcome to all painting enthusiasts, who can admire works classified according to three themes: history painting, including Mars and Venus by Flemish artist Gillis Coignet (1598), landscape painting by Louis-Augustin Auguin and portraiture. After your visit, take a break on the terrace of La Musardière, for a real moment of pleasure.
