ALDERMEN'S MUSEUM
A remarkable museum in the former City Hall of Saintes, an heir to the first museum of Fine Arts.
Heir to the first Musée des Beaux-Arts, the Musée de l'Échevinage is housed in Saintes' former Hôtel de Ville. Located in the town center, close to the Médiathèque, this charming venue is a must for painting enthusiasts. Works are arranged according to three themes: history painting, including Mars and Venus by Flemish artist Gillis Coignet (1598), landscape painting by Louis-Augustin Auguin and portraiture. After your visit, enjoy a wellness break on the La Musardière terrace!
