NOTRE DAME CHURCH
This church, located in the heart of the medieval enclosure, was built by Hugues Maingot in the century
Like the château, Saint-Nicolas church is one of the town's must-see monuments. Built by Hugues Maingot in the 11th century, under the supervision of the abbots of Vendôme, it lies at the heart of the medieval city walls. This masterpiece of Romanesque art has undergone many destructions, but its facade still stands out today! Notre-Dame was rediscovered by Prosper Mérimée in the early 19th century and restored. Today, visitors can admire its octagonal steeple housing four bells, capitals and cornice.
