This church is one of the most beautiful Romanesque buildings in the region
Despite its disuse, this church is one of the finest Romanesque buildings in the region. It is the last vestige of the Benedictine abbey founded in 1075 by two knights of the House of Mortagne. Unfortunately, the great plague of 1348 and the Hundred Years' War ruined the monastery buildings. The abbey was abandoned for 50 years before falling into the hands of the Huguenots. Listed as a Monument Historique in 1913, it is well worth a visit. Admire the barrel-vaulted bell tower, modern stained-glass windows and Roman tiles.
