MUSÉE JACQUES-GUIDEZ
Museum dedicated to the folk traditions of Poitou, with an amusing collection of wedding globes, toys, basketry...
Founded in the 10th century, the Augustinian abbey has been home to the Jacques Guidez Ethnographic Museum, dedicated to the folk traditions of Poitou, since 1975. Wander through the nooks and crannies of the abbey dwelling in search of reconstructions and a highly amusing collection: wedding globes, toys, basketry... Visit the vat room, with its 12th-century Plantagenet vaults, the former prison, converted when the canons left during the Revolution, and the vast pantry. There's also a lovely garden, complete with medieval kitchen garden and medicinal plants. Bring the kids!
