La Chapelle-Bertrand, a rural commune of 496 inhabitants (2009 census), covers an area of 1905 hectares and belongs to Parthenay township, which is approximately 5 km away. It is also located in a region called "Gâtine" which means a region of land "rotting", that is, small lands, poor ones. A former fortified square, the municipality has many interesting buildings. The castle castle, which has been under restoration since September 2002, is the property of a British couple, Mr. and Mrs. Joël Will, who intends to open it at the visit. The castles of the Touche Touche, the Roulière and the church Saint-Saturnin are also part of the bertrandais heritage.
