NOTRE-DAME-DE-BEAUCHÊNE SHRINE
This sanctuary, dedicated to Notre-Dame de Beauchêne, is particularly ancient, dating back over eight centuries
Dedicated to "Notre-Dame de Beauchêne, secours des chrétiens", this sanctuary is over eight centuries old. Its originally Romanesque abbey church underwent Gothic transformations in the 12th and 15th centuries. After its destruction by Protestants in 1562, a new wooden statue of the Virgin Mary, the object of devotion for many pilgrims, was carved in the 17th century. Its copy, also in wood, is on display in the chapel, while the original is kept in the convent.
