Renaissance château, the first in Poitou, built by François de Rochechouart on the foundations of a medieval fortress.

This listed monument, built by François de Rochechouart around 1515 on the foundations of a medieval fortress, is a real feudal Loire château. The site, occupied since ancient times, became a royal farm in the 6th century, the residence of Clotaire1st, King of the Franks. The château you can admire today is the first Renaissance château built in Poitou. Illustrious owners and visitors such as Henri IV have stayed here. The site includes a pond (for fishing, picnics, arboretum...).
