A modern museography in 3 stages: a headdress museum, the history of the château and the life of industrialist Jean-François Cail.

The Château de Javarzay features a modern, multimedia museography. The museum focuses on three themes: 19th-century hairstyles and feminine elegance (from fashion to techniques from here and elsewhere), from which you'll be able to take home an amusing digital postcard from the "coiffomaton"; the history of Château de Javarzay; and the life and work of the brilliant industrialist Jean-François Cail, a native of Chef-Boutonne and inventor, among other things, of the1st high-speed train.

Absolutely fascinating display - in both french and English, including the video - on the life and career achievements of Jean-François Cail. He was an engineer who was born in the town, and was significant in the worlds of railways, sugar refining and coinage.
