Europe's best-preserved castle. Numerous family activities.

The fairy Melusine is said to have built "her castle" in three nights, carrying the stones in her apron. This 13th-century fortress, the best-preserved in Europe, was built at a time when the Hundred Years' War was tearing Valois and Plantagenet apart. Eight of its fourteen perfectly preserved rooms are open to the public. Its winch drawbridge, high courtyard and peripheral shaft, and almond-shaped towers make it a must-see! Don't miss our summer events.
