ÉGLISE ABBATIALE NOTRE-DAME
The church contains frescoes from the late Middle Ages depicting a crucifixion and a mass by Saint Gregory
The abbey church is what remains, along with the prior's dwelling, of the royal abbey of Notre-Dame, founded in 1120 and the oldest in Poitou. Virtually destroyed during the Hundred Years' War, the church was rebuilt in the 15th century by Abbot Bernard d'Appelvoisin. It is notable for its late medieval frescoes depicting a crucifixion and a mass by Saint Gregory. The bell tower, removed in the 19th century, was rebuilt around 1865.
