This remarkable garden of 6.5 km lists 9 botanical collections and 1,400 species of trees and 250 varieties of roses.
Along an abandoned freight line, Jean Bellot, former mayor of Melle, created a hiking trail featuring a variety of tree species. One thing led to another, and the project grew to include a 6.5 km (1h30) walking trail around the town. Alongside Mellois churches and washhouses, you'll admire 1,800 trees and shrubs: oaks, maples, willows and rowan trees, scented by more than 250 types of rose. Jardin remarquable label.
