GROUPE ENO
A century-old company, Eno designs and manufactures domestic cooking and heating appliances. World leader in boat cookers, the brand is also famous for its mobile heaters and today's planchas. These are certified Origine France Garantie. Eno has also received the Entreprise du patrimoine vivant award.
History. Everything began in 1909 with the creation of the Haineaux et Cie foundry in Revin in the Ardennes. The production site moved to Niort in 1916, and the Eno brand was finally created in 1928. Owned by the Haineaux family until the 1980s, the company has experienced continuous and significant development in the household appliance sector in France and abroad. At its peak in 1980, the company had 600 employees, two production sites, exported to more than 25 countries and even won an export Oscar (1970).
As a leader in mobile gas heating and compact cooking equipment, the brand was hit hard by the oil crisis and subsequently lost its strategic international markets, particularly in Algeria and Iraq. It is its new shareholder, Optimus, a Swedish company known for its camping stoves, which is trying to diversify the activity but is also forced to restructure and refocus the activity.
Somehow, the activity continues nevertheless with the takeover of Financière du Louvre, the Taittinger Group, but there have been drastic cuts and the company only has about a hundred employees left. As a result, production is slowing down. It took three years for the company to be bought by an entrepreneur shareholder, a former Rosières manager, who, with the help of Macif and a few managers, repositioned the company around its know-how, targeting niche markets.
Eno is dedicated to the manufacture of cooking equipment for boating and leisure to become the world leader in this sector.
When its manager retired in 2003, two entrepreneurs succeeded him with the support of regional investors (PCE and Océan participation). They are implementing a new strategy based on innovation and growth. In 2006, a new impetus was given to ENO with the acquisition of FORCE 10, the leader in boating cooking appliances on the American market. This strategic acquisition gives the group a global dimension that is particularly consistent with the strategy of its main customers, whose export share often represents more than 60% of their turnover, but also the opportunity to streamline its industrial policy.
The products. Eno manufactures its products for three universes: boating with its stainless steel cookers for pleasure boats (stoves, ovens, grills, plates...), the house with its stoves and compact plates for additional use or reduced housing, and the open air with outdoor cooking appliances (surfboards, ovens) and patio heaters.
