INSTITUTION INTERDÉPARTEMENTALE DU BASSIN DE LA SÈVRE NIORTAISE
The Sèvre Niortaise is an integral part of the Domaine Public Fluvial (DPF) which represents: 183 kilometres of waterways, 37 dams including 19 in remote management, 13 navigation locks, 3 operating centres and 5 lock houses.
Owner and manager of the estate, the Interdepartmental Institution of the Sèvre Niortaise Basin (IIBSN), which brings together the departments of Vendée, Deux-Sèvres and Charente-Maritime, maintains the waterways and ensures the navigation and development works of the hydraulic works. The IIBSN also carries out work to control plant blooms, particularly exotic ones on wetlands, such as the primrose. You will find on the website of this institution which covers the territory of this basin, notices to skippers and can download maps of the waterways of the Sèvre Niortaise and its tributaries, and even a practical guide for boaters with all the practical information, such as how to pass through a lock.
