CITADEL GATE
Door with a bell ringing the hours and a châtelet in Parthenay, one of the four possible entrances to the fortified city
Like the Saint James Gate, this door - known as the Clock - was one of the four possible entries in the fortified city. All built on the same model, the door of the citadel does not derogate from the rule: The passage is overlooked by a vaulted ceiling framed with two almond towers, with a harrow and assommoir. On the first floor, a large square and vaulted room is equipped with three openings and opens onto the wall of the wall. In 1454, the door has a bell bell, and the th-century châtelet is built to protect the bell because the old frame is in too bad a condition.
