LE NOMBRIL DU MONDE
Garden offering a variety of storytelling shows, family workshops, theme nights, talks at the Cordon...
In 1990, storyteller Yannick Jaulin and the people of Pougne-Hérisson began an extraordinary artistic adventure around the Nombril, the stone located in front of the church and the starting point of the local legend - and all the others for that matter..
Le Nombril du Monde is a fun, spectacular and poetic biennial festival (even-numbered years, in August) devoted to the mythology of the sacred stone. You'll come across a colony of dreamers, storytellers, street artists, actors, visual artists and poets eager to tell you their stories. A golden opportunity for a change of scene! Beware, tickets are snapped up online in no time!
Le Nombril is also a prolific association, organizing an astonishing cultural program. Le Cordon, Le Nombril's bar, hosts film screenings with Ménigoute-based IFFCAM, DIY workshops and 1 légume une histoire.
Don't forget to explore the Jardin des histoires, a sound park in which trees, stones and even resting places whisper secrets to you. Follow in the footsteps of Robert Jarry and John Barney Ferguson, the discoverers of the Nombril and inventors of umbilicology, on a crazy guided tour of the collection of tarabuster machines, the Marmitte à Esgourdes and its Greenhouse, the Roseraie Tubulente... Finally, download Le Tarot du Nombril onto your Android and discover with your family the plaques hidden here and there in Pougne-Hérisson. And then there's the enigmatic Balades à Pou, on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays during the school vacations, at 5.03pm.
