THEOPHANE VENARD'S BIRTH HOUSE
Old house housing various religious and everyday objects that once belonged to the saint
Born in 1829 in Saint-Loup-sur-Thouet, Théophane Vénard was a volunteer missionary in Tonkin. Beheaded in Hanoi in 1861, he was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1988 among the 117 martyrs of Vietnam. One will be surprised by the character of this old house which has remained in its original state, as well as by the various objects of worship and daily life which belonged to the saint. It is undoubtedly one of the rare occasions to discover a typical house of the village from the inside.
