CASTLE OF SAINT SYMPHORIEN
Castle with two round towers on the facades, rooms that still have wallpaper from 1825 and a park with trees
In 1996, the town hall of Saint Symphorien became the owner of this castle, which it will have restored according to the rules of art. This building was partly rebuilt in the 19th century but its two round towers on the facades bear witness to an earlier age since its characteristic towers appeared, along with the canons, in the 14th-15th centuries. Its walls contain a rare curiosity: two of its rooms still have wallpaper from 1825. True witnesses of their time, fashion and tastes of the period, they have been carefully restored. They can be found in the Mayor's office and in another small office in the castle. You will be able to discover these treasures during the Heritage Days as well as their history. This castle also has a large, cool, wooded park where you can enjoy a walk and a picnic. Note the very beautiful orangery which is there and whose facade testifies to the taste of its former owners. Visits are free of charge and take place during the opening hours of the town hall as well as during heritage days as the wallpapers are classified.
