CLOCK TOWER
The square tower with the clock was the central point of the halls housing the services of the town hall and the justice of the peace.
The Clock Tower came out of the ground in 1840. It was the focal point of the halls, which housed the town hall and justice of the peace departments on the first floor. It was around 1824 that the inhabitants of Sauzé and the merchants demanded the installation of a clock. In 1839, the town hall decided to build a square tower in order to install the famous municipal clock. But the Council finally abandoned its project in favour of the construction on the halls of a town hall and justice of the peace hall, and a bell tower (the current tower). Later, at the beginning of the 20th century, the halls were destroyed and only the tower was preserved with its clock, which stands alone like a belfry with a rounded slate roof. It became the symbol of Sauzé.
