ÉGLISE SAINTE-EULALIE
church with Romanesque sculpted capitals, painted decor and modern stained-glass windows.
Sainte-Eulalie was founded in its castrum by the lords of Parthenay at the end of the 11th century. Richard the Lionheart confiscated the property in retaliation for Hugues I 's friendship with Philippe Auguste. It was not returned until the 13th century. The church features an octagonal bell tower and a porch-ballet on its south portal, typical of the Gâtine region. Altered over the centuries and enlarged at the end of the 19th century, it retains Romanesque sculpted capitals, 13th-14th century painted decor and a fine series of modern stained glass windows.
