SAINT-HILAIRE CHURCH
The church of Saint-Hilaire was built in the 11th century in the Romanesque style. It had semicircular vaults, flanked by a thick bell tower, potential protection in case of attack. During the Hundred Years War, the vault was destroyed and its reconstruction was the occasion to fortify the facade with two watchtowers. In the 19th century, the abbot Charruyer, then parish priest, launched a renovation project to give back to the church, in bad condition, its former glory. The nave was rebuilt in a gothic style with a more slender bell tower.
