CONDEMNED CASTLE
Several lords share the territory of Buxières in the Middle Ages, and it seems that the net of La Condemine then étand on Saint Hilaire and Ygrande. La Condemine family stayed there from 1400 to 1420 and received the Duchess Anne Dauphine in 1411. The castle dominates the Aumance valley and retains its imposing aspect thanks to its still water ditches and its tower of entry, once preceded by a drawbridge. The construction of the building took place over a long period of time, as evidenced by the various forms of the bays. A chapel occupies a wing, while the other is entrusted to the host body. The powerful aspect of the building does not, however, make it a fortress. In fact, during the Sling, on 11 October 1650, the governor of the Bourbonnais took the castle after a six-hour seat; but it is only defended by twenty-six people.
