CASTLE OF TOUFFOU
12th century castle with towers including the chapel, gardens and a terrace overlooking the Vienne valley
This magnificent little château, built in the 12th century and enlarged during the Renaissance, overlooks the Vienne River. You can visit the Tour François Ier, the Tour de la Chapelle and the Tour de l'Hôtellerie, as well as the gardens, classified as a Remarkable Garden in 2004, which took shape in 1966 on the initiative of David Ogilvy and his wife. Stroll through the four yew-fringed areas, including a marvellous rose garden, and extend your visit to the gardens of the Aumônerie and the Italian-style Terrace des Tournois, from which you can admire the Vienne valley.
