MAURICE FOMBEURE MUSEUM
Museum retracing the life of Maurice Fombeure, poet-writer who won the Grand Prix de poésie de la Ville de Paris in 1958
The museum traces the life of Maurice Fombeure, poet-writer (1906-1981), who notably obtained the Grand Prix de poésie de la Ville de Paris in 1958. Maurice Fombeure was born in Jardres and grew up with his grandparents in Bonneuil-Matours. He spent part of his teaching career in the Vienne region before moving to Bourges and Paris. He did not fail to write about his love for his country and dedicated three books of memories to it, in which he reveals himself to be a tasty chronicler of the micro-society of Poitou. He is buried in the commune.
