RUINS OF THE MEDIEVAL CASTLE
The ruins of a medieval castle remain, with beautiful entrance towers, a terrace and a dungeon, all vestiges of a rich history.
The first fortress was built in the 9th century. In the 13th century, the Lusignans built a castle, the ruins of which can still be seen today. Razed and rebuilt, it suffered damage during the Hundred Years' War and was devastated during the Wars of Religion. Rebuilt in the 16th century by the Rochechouarts, it was abandoned around a century later. Dismantled, what remains is the entrance castelet with its gate framed by two large towers, the terrace, the keep and the captaincy.
