ST. JAMES CHURCH
The Saint-Jacques church is the only religious building in Poitou-Charentes which has a carillon of 50 bells
With two bell towers and consecrated in 1066 by Isembert II, bishop of Poitiers, the church is located on the road to Santiago de Compostela. You can also see a statue of Saint James in pilgrim's clothing and in polychrome wood, dated from the 17th century. The church was entirely restored in the 19th century and its neo-Romanesque facade dates from this period. It is the only religious building in Poitou-Charentes to have a carillon of 50 bells, classified as a historical monument, which a keyboard allows to ring. An extraordinary instrument!
