ST. VINCENT DE CHANTELLE ABBEY
Abbey overlooking the Bouble gorges, welcoming pilgrims of Saint-Jacques, good address for a spiritual retreat.
Since 1853, a community of Benedictines has been established at Saint Vincent Abbey on the commune of Chantelle in the heart of the Bourbonnais, rich in cultural and spiritual tradition. From its rocky spur the abbey overlooks the wild and deep gorges of La Bouble magnificently. The abrupt appearance of parts of the building, the presence of several towers and its wall wall give it a medieval fortress. This promontory has since the night been a place dedicated to God. The life of the monial is punctuated by the bells which remind them of prayer and work. Simple and close cosmetics are produced in the monastery workshop since 1954. The host, coming for a time of silence and spiritual healing, will help to make the cover and dishes. From May to October, a more specific welcome is offered to pilgrims in Santiago since 2011. The way to Chantelle, the Saint-Benoît house then becomes a refuge. «Let the monks receive the poor, the pilgrims and the Christian brothers with the utmost care and attention.» In fact, it is through them that we receive Christ. (Rule of St Benoît ch .53).
