STROLL IN CHANTELLE
Go there and contact
Take the time to tour Chantelle to discover its exceptional heritage of its past splendour. First, its abbey in which you will see the remains of the first church, the nave of three spans, and then admire the th century cloister gallery, will then see the two towers, remains of the castle of the Dukes of Bourbon, one of which is covered in chestnut woods, and part of the wall on the side of the priory. The location of the old tower is indicated by a circular mound of land and stone, surmounted by trees called La Motte-Bourbon. Then the most courageous will go to the Mills trail. In the past, there were flour mills, wineries, mailleries, tanneries, laundries and carderies. Their environment was occupied by cultivated spaces (gardens, vines, orchards) retained by layers of dry stones that are still clear under the brush. A village especially caring!
