CINEMA DE GENCAY

Its objective: to defend the cinema in rural areas! In 1992, the establishment, then owned by a private operator, was bought by the city, which entrusted its management to the "Cinéma de Gençay" association. A score of volunteers and 500 members later, the small country cinema has made its nest. Labeled "Young Audiences", "Heritage and Repertoire" and "Research and Discovery", it is recognized as an art house cinema and has found its godmother in the person of Ariane Ascaride. Inside, a bar area allows for exchanges and critiques. Cine-concerts, conferences and meetings, big successes as well as unknown nuggets, young and old have something to satisfy their desires for a good film.
