A monument to discover by wandering freely. Visitor documentation in five languages is available free of charge at reception.

Its layout is fairly standard, with a rectangular main building flanked by two circular towers to the west, but its decoration is one of the most interesting in the department. The monumental fireplaces bear sculptures, paintings, inscriptions and painted decorations. A heraldic eagle and a Diana of Ephesus are depicted on the flight of stairs, in a style and color reminiscent of Antiquity. Upstairs, a small room features an astrological ceiling, as well as a fireplace decorated with lion paws and a painting of Mars and Venus.

Un joyau dans le Bourbonnais
Château de la Seconde Renaissance avec de magnifiques peintures "Grotesques" . Château unique en France, le plus italien de tous nos châteaux . Ouvert en avril, du 15 juin au 15 septembre et vacances d'octobre. Visite de groupe sur réservation.

Lors d'une sortie avec nos anciennes autos !! nous avons eu le plaisir de visiter le Château de Chareil Cintrat, le site est magnifique et chargé d'histoire, notre guide était sympathique, quoique un peu trop académique pour nos oreilles !!
Nous avons apprécié cette visite malgré tout.

Attention, the opening hours are limited but this small castle is a pictorial must: the ceiling of the staircase is entirely decorated by artists with Renaissance who was inspired by the discovery of the villa Nero to Rome: abundance the grotesque and mythological influences. Absolutely brilliant!
Next to a vineyard replanted with old grape varieties, you are there in Saint Pourçain!
