CASTLE OF LA CHÈZE
17th century castle, inviting to admire the quality of its architecture, the dovecote, the well chamber and its big wheel
Castle built in the 17th century by the son of Pierre de Payraud, who was mayor of Poitiers in 1612, situated in a 20 ha English park, with statues. The guided tour lasts half an hour and focuses on the quality of the architecture and the history of the castle, as well as on its particularities (dovecote, well inside the castle...). A must-see is the dovecote, the well chamber and its big wheel, the laundry room and the park where you can see horses and donkeys as well as the flora and fauna of the Gâtine poitevine.
