LES CAVES DE LA COUR DES DAMES
The Cour des Dames, a place steeped in history, witness to the erotic activities and hidden cellars of Charroux.
In the 1960s, the inner courtyard of the citadel was designated on the town plans as the Ladies' Courtyard, having often been used to indicate the existence of a certain erotic trade, or the disappearance of the Royal Gendarmerie in the 17th century (Cour d'Armes). The vines having almost disappeared, there remains an exceptional set of cellars, most of them hidden, but two are visible for free in the Ladies' courtyard.
