LA POSTE AUX CHEVAUX
One of France's most remarkable coaching inns, created by the Comte d'Argenson in 1764.
This post house is one of the most remarkable in France for its architecture, its proportions (the largest in France) and its excellent condition. Created by the Comte d'Argenson in 1764, the Post Office features a magnificent carriage entrance, stables, a drinking trough, a saddlery, the postilions' room (carriage drivers) as well as the living quarters and guesthouse. A tour of the building provides an insight into the transport, customs and history of the site. The old riding arena is also the venue for the Aux Ormes Mozartiens festival (June-July)!
