THE FACTORIES
The site was once dedicated to flour milling, before moving on to textiles and the manufacture of paraffin-coated yoghurt pots.
A rare place where "work differently" can be experienced. The Usines project was conceived on the remains of the old Ligugé spinning mill (1856), which is a listed historic monument and which, until the 1960s, was the second largest company in the Vienne region. The place was first dedicated to milling before being devoted to textiles and then to the manufacture of yoghurt pots in paraffin cardboard. In 2011, 4 acolytes bought the industrial wasteland that had been abandoned for more than 30 years and had survived demolition to gradually build (or re-build) a cross-disciplinary work space where arts and crafts rub shoulders with the digital and environmental fields. Bringing people together and sharing networks is the credo of the AY128 association. But Les Usines is also a place for individuals and being a volunteer means participating in its rehabilitation, in the maintenance of shared gardens, in the creation of new projects through working groups. Being a member allows you to participate in the "Partages de savoirs" where many themes are discussed, to access our training and services (space rental, fablab, creation residence...), or to receive a newsletter every 2 months. To discover the fablab and its machines, no need to join. Meet us on tuesday from 7pm to 10pm for the open workshops. You will learn a lot! Do you want to stock up on good organic and/or local products? Go to the market of Les Usines, every Friday.
