CHARBONNEAU-LASSAY MUSEUM
Louis Charbonneau-Lassay's museum, a journey through Loudun's curiosities.
Throughout his life, Louis Charbonneau-Lassay, a scholar and local historian with a wide range of interests, assembled a number of collections that give this museum the air of a cabinet of curiosities. A keen researcher, in 1940 he published the famous Bestiaire du Christ, a work devoted to the symbolism of the Christian West. Located in the historic center of the Martray district, inside a handsome 18th-century town house, the museum displays objects and documents on the history of Loudun, as well as a collection of African art.
