COLLEGIATE CHURCH OF SAINT-CROIX
The collegiate church of Sainte-Croix, a Romanesque building with a Poitevin character, a cultural space with exhibitions and concerts.
Superb Romanesque building built in the 11th century, the collegiate church is a typically Poitevin building in which the six large round pillars of the choir reveal the Burgundian influence, coming from the Benedictine monks of the abbey of Tournus. In 1634, it was the place of exorcism sessions during the trial of Urbain Grandier. A metal framework from the Universal Exhibition of 1889 replaces the vault, after the demolition of the ten pillars of the nave. Covered market, it is today a cultural space punctuated by animations, temporary exhibitions and concerts.
