NOTRE-DAME AND SAINT-JUNIEN CHURCH
This church, on the route of the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage, is characteristic of the Romanesque architecture of Poitiers
Located on the route of the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage, in a pleasant district of Lusignan, the church is characteristic of the Romanesque architecture of Poitou with its massive square bell tower and its numerous sculpted modillions. The lord of Lusignan, Hugues IV le Brun, was responsible for its construction in 1025. Finished in 1110 under Hugues VI, it was reworked in the 14th and 16th centuries. On the outside, a sculpture of Melusine adorns the chevet.
