CALVAIRE DE GÂTINE
The Calvary of Gatine, indicated by a small white panel, displays a painting of the Way of the Cross with monumental statues
This calvary was built in 1910 by the abbot Vachère. It represents a painting of the Way of the Cross. On a reconstructed rock, you will see monumental statues as well as three crosses with a haloed Christ and two other crucified figures. At the foot of the rock are a Virgin and smaller statues. Legend has it that in 1912 soldiers saw blood flowing from the Virgin and Christ. In Mirebeau, take the direction of Champigny en Rochereau. Only a small white sign will indicate the location of the monument located in the middle of a field.
