COLLEGIATE CHURCH OF NOTRE-DAME
The collegiate church of Notre-Dame de Mirebeau, a symbol of pilgrimage and resilience despite the ravages of war.
The church of Our Lady was rebuilt in the 19th century in the Gothic style. Its bell tower can be seen for more than 30 km around. You should see the pulpit of the 17th century and the Miraculous. This statue of the Virgin in polychrome wood from the 12th century, in the middle of the war of religion, was saved by parishioners and monks of the priory who hid it. They were massacred, taking with them the secret of the hiding place. Legend has it that at the end of the 17th century, a ploughman hit a bell with his plough and inside he found the Miraculous One!
