CHÂTEAU DE FURIGNY
The castle of Furigny was used as a barracks for the conscripts, and for the survivors of the maquis of Périgord and Vendée
The castle of Furigny is a real architectural treasure. Whenever possible, a visit to the interior of the castle is worthwhile. The creation of this estate is estimated to date back to the 13th century, when it had a drawbridge, moat, feudal keep and a small chapel. In 1946, it was used as a barracks for conscripts, and for survivors of the maquis of Périgord and Vendée. Today, the large surrounding wall, the corner towers and the original fortified gate are still visible and have been classified as historical monuments.
