CHURCH OF SAINT-SULPICE
One of the department's most remarkable small Romanesque churches. It contains medieval sculptures and paintings.
Saint-Sulpice d'Oyré is considered one of the department's most remarkable small Romanesque churches. Built in the 12th century, it illustrates the transition between Poitou and Touraine through the use of tufa stone and flat tiles. Despite its classical layout, the church has a distinctive feature: in front of its west façade is a beautiful stone gallery that forms a kind of ballet canopy. Inside, the church features remarkable medieval sculptures and paintings, with religious scenes and monstrous chimeras.
