In addition to exhibitions and lectures to help you better understand science in general, the Espace Mendès-France offers multidisciplinary workshops. Engineers, artists, animators and researchers make up a rich program. What's more, the planetarium - with its 4,000 stars - allows everyone to immerse themselves in space for 1h30 and observe the movements of the stars. Once they've put their heads in the stars, curious youngsters are invited to take part in workshops with their feet firmly on the ground: create a 3D video game, bake bread, make recycled paper, investigate using DNA, pilot a drone. There are many themes to choose from, but the best way to learn is through experimentation and fun.

Open Tuesday to Friday, 9am to 6:30pm; weekends, 2pm to 6:30pm. Closed on December bank holidays and Sundays during summer vacation. Free admission except for major exhibitions, shows and the planetarium (see website).

Located in the heart of Poitiers' historic city center, the Espace Mendès France is a center dedicated to scientific, technical and industrial culture. It was created to disseminate advances in research, encourage the sharing of knowledge and stimulate debate on social and cultural issues. Various events, conferences, exhibitions and debates, open to all publics and contributing to the development of scientific culture, are regularly organized here. The site is also home to the Lieu Multiple, a center dedicated to digital creation, where artistic research activities and events are offered. This venue frequently hosts shows.
