CHATEAU D'ABIN
A château with a chapel and a footbridge spanning the moat, designed by Gustave Eiffel.
Formerly the seigneury of Abin, this ancient fiefdom with rights of high justice, first mentioned in 1280, came under the duchy of Châtellerault and depended on the powerful abbey of Fontevraud. The Abin pond gave rise to the construction of this castle, which a priori dates back to the 14th century. The twin medieval towers bear witness to this. A second construction in the 17th century completed the current intact ensemble, with its chapel and moat. In fact, the footbridge spanning the moat was designed by Gustave Eiffel!
