EGLISE SAINT GERMAIN
This church on the right bank of the Gartempe was a dependency of the abbey of Saint-Savin until the Revolution
On the right bank of the Gartempe, the Romanesque church dedicated to Saint Germain l'Auxerrois was a dependency of the abbey of Saint-Savin until the Revolution. In the 19th century, the church received a new painted decoration. Polychrome paintings, classical for the time, represent a Christ in majesty. More exceptional, paintings in "grisailles" by Octave Pichaut adorn the choir. They depict different episodes from the life of Saint Germain, bishop of Auxerre, Saint Loup, bishop of Troyes and Saint Genevieve, patroness of Paris.
