SAINT-MAURICE CHURCH
An elegant 12th century church with frescoes from the 14th and 16th centuries
This elegant 12th century church is characterized by its trefoil plan, unique in Poitou. It also has a fortified bell tower (blind, massive and square) dating from the 16th century and a portal with sculpted arches from the 13th century (griffins, fleurons, palmettes). Inside, frescoes from the 14th and 16th centuries are still visible: a Christ in majesty on the vault of the apse, prophets and apostles on the cradle of the choir and boats (a little erased) in the right aisle. It was classified as a historical monument in 1890.
