PIGEONNIER
A boulin is a hole designed to accommodate a couple of pigeons. On this pigeon in the form of a rotunda, there are 1 711 boulins, spread over 100 square meters. On the front door of the gate, a date is registered: 1674. It corresponds to the year of construction of the house. It should be noted that the Upper Poitou has many Pigeonholes that are also called "fuies" or "colombiers of foot". Under the Old Regime, the pigeon protected part of the fertilizer, the «columbine» - «the fertilizer of the noble». The number of boulins on each pigeon corresponded to the number of acres of land possessed by the lord. The exclusive right of pigeonholes, symbol of the seigneurial power in the countryside, was abolished in 1789.
