ASTRO BLIEUX - OBSERVATOIRE DU MONT-CHIRAN
One of the most effective ways to keep unforgettable memories of astronomical evenings is to match exceptional observations and geographical conditions! This is what ABCDE's association manages the refuge and astronomical observatory of Mount Chiran in the Middle Verdon. This magical place is primarily directed at astronomers who are not afraid of living conditions a little rustic and who even think (and they are quite right!) that "astro" must rhyme with "adventure" to maximize pleasures. The place is a former CNRS observatory and the nearby refuge is a haven of peace for transient astronomers and for those who walk in this magnificent mountainous region. For yes, we are in altitude, almost 2,000 m (exactly 1,905 m), and weather conditions can be difficult (intense cold). There is also a need to bring your sleeping bag, some water supplies (no drinking water up there), and it is good to help make dishes once the meal is finished (this is a refuge). Several packages are offered by the association: night only, with meals, with a evening of sightseeing and the valuable help of a facilitator to manipulate the telescope. It is, of course, the latter option that we highly recommend. Back in the valleys once your journey is made, you'll feel like you've dreamt of your eyes!
