THE PENTAGONAL TOWER
The best-preserved and highest tower in Castellane, dating from 1359. Don't miss the gardens at the foot of the tower for the view.
The pentagonal tower dates back to 1359. It has been part of the walls defending the town of Castellane since the Middle Ages. The gardens at the foot of the tower offer a splendid view of the village, the Roc and the Verdon valley. It is the most important of the town's fortifications. It is also the best preserved and the highest, although not the tallest (just under 20 meters). There are three access routes, the easiest of which starts nearby, behind the tourist office.
