LE CORSO DE LA LAVANDE
Go there and contact
It's the most festive event of the year, during which the town transforms itself to celebrate lavender, the little blue flower that is the town's emblem. Between 18,000 and 25,000 people attend the event every year. On the menu: day and night parades of flower-decorated and illuminated floats, musical, costume and cultural demonstrations by international groups, fireworks, funfair, boules competition, braderie, popular dances... Lavender has been honored since 1900, making Digne les Bains and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence the leading producer of lavender and lavandin in the region. During the festival, watch demonstrations of the distillation of this fragrant plant, and take home a few sprigs of lavender, the sweet scent of which will perfume your drawers and cupboards for a long time to come.
