OIL MILL OF THE CASCADE OF MONESSARGUES
Mill where the crushed olives come from the olive groves of the property located on the hillsides of Lurs
Between Lurs and Pierrerue, Jérôme Masse, producer and manufacturer of organic olive oil, invites you to discover a tradition that dates back to 1674, the year the Moulin de la Cascade was built. He will familiarize you with the ancestral gestures, with a non centrifuged oil, allowing to obtain an olive oil of high quality, with a sweet and fruity flavor. You will follow the different steps from the pressing of the scourtins to the collection of the oil, passing by the natural decantation in the oak vats. In this 17th century mill, built under the reign of Louis XV, the olives come from the olive groves of the property located on the hillsides of Lurs. The harvest takes place between December and January, then the transformation of the fruit into the precious liquid follows scrupulously followed steps to preserve the nutritional qualities of the olive. To meet the ever-growing demand, the mill has modernized, while maintaining authentic and traditional manufacturing criteria, and always with a non-centrifuged oil of quality. An oil to be admired, tasted and bought at the end of the visit (or in the store Chez Justine in Lurs, from May to October), before enjoying the Lozon river, the beautiful waterfall and its nearby ponds. Note that the domain regularly welcomes groups and school children for guided tours (by appointment). Very warm welcome. Let yourself be tempted!
