THE GOLDEN MOUNTAIN TOWER
The tower beautifully lit at night and overlooking Manosque.
The beautifully lit tower overlooking Manosque at night is the remains of an ancient castle built in the 10th century by the Count of Arles, Bozon. It was inhabited by his son Guillaume, but over the centuries the building gradually fell into ruin, and today only a section of wall remains. The hill was once overgrown with broom (hence the name Mont d'Or), but today olive trees have reclaimed the area. It's the perfect spot for a pleasant stroll to admire the panoramic view over the Durance valley and the Valensole plateau in the distance.
